Who can enroll?
Student Membership is available if you are enrolled in a postsecondary program that is preparatory for employment in a position that will make you eligible for Active (educator) membership in the OEA/NEA.
When can I enroll?
Enrollment for the current membership year is offered from the start of the membership year, September 1, through August 31. You may enroll anytime throughout the year but will always be required to renew your membership annually. The Aspiring Educator Board will send email notifications to current members when it is time to renew each year. Beginning April 1, early enrollment applications will be accepted for the upcoming membership year, and those eligible will receive certain member benefits for the remainder of the current year if enrolling as a first-time member AND will be considered “early enrolled” for the upcoming membership year.
Membership Year and Benefits Coverage
The membership year runs from September 1 through August 31 of the following year. Benefits of membership, including Employment Educators Liability (EEL) insurance coverage, are effective from the date application is made with payment*, through the end of the membership year. Certain benefits may apply retroactively from the beginning of the membership year.
